TvdW acquired by Bato
TvdW was founded in 1994 by Han and Jolanda van den Wijngaart Thanks in part to a unique, efficient production system, the company is a top global player producing almost 30 million wound tomato hooks each year. TvdW was acquired by Bato Plastics at the end of 2021. As of April 2022, TvdW will be physically integrated with Bato in Zevenbergen.

Han will continue to be involved in the integration and production of high wire hooks at Bato.
Jolanda van den Wijngaart, former owner
Jolanda van den Wijngaart is responsible for purchasing, sales, contact with customers and suppliers and the financial administration at Tomatenhakenwikkelbedrijf van den Wijngaart. The tomato hooks
“We wind three different types of high wire hooks. Single hooks are hooks without a free fall part, double hooks have a free fall part and high wire hooks with J.S. system have a separate free fall part. Available in 18 cm and 22 cm. The hooks are wound with synthetic, organic or jute twine. Aside from the different types of twine, customers also choose a specific breaking strength of the twine, depending on the crop.”
The winding process
“Our unique, efficient production system means it is still possible to continue producing in the Netherlands. We are one of the few in the Netherlands, which is something to be proud of. Our production is now running an average of 11 hours per day and about 17 hours a day in the peak season. To meet customer demand even better, Bato wants to scale up production in the future. The goal will be 24-hour production, as is usual at the injection moulding company with its current work methods.”
Integration with Bato Plastics
“As of April 2022, TvdW will be physically integrated with Bato in Zevenbergen. This is an exciting period for us in which the company, ourselves and our staff will move to Zevenbergen in phases. Bato knows the market like no other and serves largely the same customer base. We are taking a step back. With Bato as the new owner, we are confident that our company is in good hands and has a bright future.”
